A thermal oil heating sys may consist of oil fired heaters and exhaust gas heaters;
When sailing, heat carried with exhaust gas from the ME or AE could be collected by the exhaust gas heater (coils inside the heater), and tranfered to heating consumers; while in port, if there is no EGH for AE or heating capacity from AE exhaust gas is not sufficient, an oil fired heater may start to supply more heat;
Heat is carried by thermal oil, which is circulating all the time by circulation pumps;
Setting to start an oil fired heater could be controlled automatically by thermal oil temperature monitoring;
The max film temp of thermal oil, depends on what grade of thermal oi in use, could be as high as 320 to 340;
while flow of thermal oil is very important so that thermal oil is not overheated. |
