I have seen similar markings on some other ships. They are hull markings for location of bottom sensors of Speed Log (“L”) and Sounding Devices (“S”). There are no mandatory requirements to mark these sensor locations on the ship’s side hulls, but some manufacturers and the shipowners like to mark them on new ships to facilitate the underwater repair by divers when the ships are in service.

If the ship is in dock, you may verify this by finding the sensors location at ship’s bottom. If not, find it in the speed log and echo sounder installation drawings. Please let me know the manufacturer of the devices.

我记得计程仪和测深仪应该安装在船舶首部位置的，这两个标记在船舶首尾都有，难道这条船尾部也安装了？
这条船是一艘28K多用途重吊船，目前处于码头舾装阶段。
不明就里，还请指教。

在现场有条件先验证该标记的垂向位置是不是测深仪和计程仪换能器的船底安装位置。
双换能器的测深仪和计程仪并不少见，可以获得不同位置的数据，在一个换能器故障时，不影响另一个换能器工作。
单一换能器的情况，计程仪和测深仪换能器安装位置通常要考虑显示单元的船上安装位置，减少布线的长度。测深仪一般安装近船尾，因为船舶通常为尾倾。计程仪不一定。大船一般还是近船尾。
这个标示不是强制的，是为了便于日后水下维修定位，以及水下刮船壳提醒潜水员注意不要损伤换能器。
以你现场验证为准。

谢谢指点，明天去学习一下，此船为艏楼船型，前后各有标记，理解为测深仪计程仪可能性比较大。多谢多谢！

我也认为是计程仪舱和测深仪舱。不过有个小问题请教，有见过E.S.表示echo sounder, 测深仪舱，还有D.L. 表示计程仪舱，这个D.L.就搞不明白是什么缩写了，speed log，不是应该S.L.?
另，如有水下检验标志，这个mark是不是必须要有？有没有规定的缩写？
