Impressed current cathodic protection
Impressed current system for hull and propeller protection shall be fitted.
One (1) electro chlorination anti-fouling system for SW cooling water circuits to prevent fouling of cooling water pipes shall be provided.
Sacrificial anodes cathodic corrosion protection
Bolted type zinc anodes to be fitted in the ballast water tanks. Back-up zinc anodes to be provided for the ballast tanks, at a density of 5 - 7.5 mA/m2 for a period of five (5) years and ballast ratio of 50 %.
Zinc anodes in water ballast tanks shall be installed according to good shipbuilding practice, duration of protection, location of zinc anodes, design parameters, current density, immersion time to be discussed with Builder and paint manufacturer.
Corrosion protection of ballast water tanks should also consider the consequences of water ballast exchange, where consumption of sacrificial anodes is expected to increase.
Zinc anodes on outer shell shall be of bolted type(SUS) with studs welded directly on hull.
Sea chests are to be suitably painted and additionally protected by sacrificial aluminium anodes. |
