15.2.1 Number of Steering Gears
1 Unless expressly specified otherwise, every ship is to be provided with a main steering gear and an auxiliary
steering gear. The main steering gear and the auxiliary steering gear are to be so arranged that the failure of one of
them will not render the other one inoperative.
2 In cases where the main steering gear comprises two or more identical power units, an auxiliary steering gear
need not be fitted, provided that:
(1) The main steering gear is capable of operating the rudder as required by 15.2.2(1) while operating with all power
units;
(2) The main steering gear is so arranged that after a single failure in its piping system or in one of the power units
the defect can be isolated so that steering capability can be maintained or speedily regained. Steering gears,
other than those of the hydraulic type, will be considered by the Society in each case.
15.2.6 Alternative Source of Power
In cases where the diameter of upper stock is required in Chapter 3, Part C to be over 230 mm, an alternative
source of power is to be provided in accordance with the following:
(1) The alternative source of power is to be either:
(a) An emergency source of electric power; or
(b) An independent source of power located in the steering gear compartment and used only for this purpose.
(2) Any alternative source of power is to be capable of automatically supplying within 45 seconds, alternative
power to the power unit and its associated control system and the rudder angle indicator. In this case the
alternative source of power is to be capable of giving sufficient power to the power unit so that the steering
capability required by 15.2.3(1) can be regained. In every ship of 10,000 gross tonnage or more, alternative
sources of power are to have the capacity for at least 30 minutes of continuous operation of the steering gear and
for at least 10 minutes in any other ship.
看完这个应该能理解了吧,一般是操舵装置是两套,也有可能有两个舵机,但是兄弟我确实没见过。
