1.the photo which have several vertical pipes on deck are "stanchions"used for securing containers or cargo boxes so it wont slid off/move out during carriage in bad sea state.
2.The fresh water suction could be designed like that, as some designers and owners agreed to use it in some cases or conditions.Because some tanks like potable water will have some sludge at the bottom especially when the ship gets older, and will be suct with the pump.So they prefer to take suction only from the topside to be sure they only suct clean water..But this condition is rarely used in some ships and not in SMIT ships..
3.The tank vent I saw is not a common type and we don't use this type in Smit.I don't know exactly if that is good or not ,but the bottom line is,it can be used and should be of class approved. |
