Spot Light，Flood Light，Search Light

谁能讲讲这三者的区别，特别是前两个。
包括原理方面，功能用途方面，安装位置方面，求教！

聚光灯或叫探照灯，泛光灯，搜索灯，探照灯要求照远，泛光灯要求近距离大面积布光，搜索灯要求跟探照灯差不多吧，不过一般把船上罗经甲板的那个大家伙叫做探照灯，功率大一些，而把救生艇附近的那个叫做搜索灯，功率相对较小。泛光灯一般用于甲板照明，不需要远距离聚焦。

the term "searchlight" is equivalent to floodlight.
IMHO a "spotlight" is a narrow focus beam only and a "searchlight" is a hard mounted moveable light. But who cares? It's just semantics.
Basically the difference is that a spot light is focused and concentrates all of the light in a small area and a flood light spreads all of the light over a larger area.
A 1,000 watt spot light might have a very bright 10' diameter circle at 100 ft and a 1,000 watt flood light might have a 40' circle but less bright at 100 ft.
If you are looking for something you might use a flood light because it covers a larger area.
If you know something is there but are having a difficult time identifying it, you would probably prefer a spot light.
