两者没有关联，都是独立的位置参照系统。
tautwire含绞车及控制系统, 装于船的舷侧，用绞车把depressor（几百公斤重）放到海底，depressor利用重力作为一个固定点，保持钢丝绳的张力，通过监测钢丝绳相对船舶的角度变化来计算船舶位置的变化。
