RamRig
With a well-proven operational track record, our RamRig represents a state-of-the-art drilling solution.
Available with single, double, triple and quadruple stand rigs with capacities from 150 to 2,000 tons, the RamRig can be applied to fixed and floating drilling platforms, is competitive on deep water rigs and is equipped to meet future demands for higher hoisting capacities.
Our RamRigs open up the opportunity to drill in harsh environments and in ultra-deep water areas and have successfully operated in international waters and can be winterised to operate in arctic conditions.
Our dual RamRig is the ultimate deep water rig and provides dual rig functionality at a lower total operational cost than a comparable conventional dual rig solution.
Features such as, less overhead operations, lower weight, reduced space requirements and improved safety are the clear advantages to conventional drilling packages.
Lower center of gravity increases variable deck load capacity
Highly flexible and accurate integrated long stroke active/passive heave compensation and state-of-the-art control systems, improved operational efficiency
The impressive accuracy and built-in automated drilling function results in a smoother well path, less weight on bit variations and optimisation of the rate of penetration
No drawworks, considerably increased braking capacity and minimal risk of dropping the BOP/riser
Excellence track record with high uptime
Our third generation RamRig hoisting system features
Safe and flexible hoisting system
Easy gearshift – within minutes
Scalable 1000/1250/1500 /1750 sTon and beyond
Block retract function
No cut and slip required
State of the art control system
High operational redundancy
Safe and flexible integrated compensating system
No power consumption when in passive compensation
Active compensation
No need for additional frame when lock to bottom
Low noise emission
High velocity
Simplified installation
No need for VFD in power package – Hydraulic Power Unit motors served directly from MCC
Key components
The hoisting system on the RamRig consists of two or more cylinders (depending on capacity requirements) arranged within a Ram guide instead of the conventional drawworks and derrick. The hoisting lines are of fixed length, parallel lines with one end anchored at the drill floor, the other end at the top drive. The lines are run over the yoke sheaves, thereby transforming the push from the rams to upward lifting the force to the top drive. Subsequently, the travelling distance and speed of the top drive is double the stroking of the rams.
