Mr. Gu Hong was born in 1968. He received a master's degree in Power & Automatic Control System from Tianjing University in China. He has 20 years of experiences in the oil & gas industry.

Mr.Gu previously worked in the ChengBei oilfields of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) in Bohai Bay as his initial job. He then joined Platform Fabrication Company (PFC) of CNOOC in 1992,    from 1993 he served as a Electrical Engineer in ARCO YC13-1 Gas Plant Project Team of PFC and from 1995 he was a director of Electrical & Instrument Department in PFC. He was chief engineer of Fabrication Division of CNOOC Offshore Oil Engineering Co. Ltd (COOEC) from 1999 to 2001. In 2001, he was assigned to Devon Energy (China) Co. Ltd which is a joint venture between CNOOC and Devon Energy.  He was appointed a senior head of facilities of CNOOC SES in Indonesia from 2004 to 2008.

In 2008, he joined COOEC as general manager of International Cooperation Department of COOEC.  In 2010, Mr. Gu was appointed General Manager of COOEC International Engineering Co. Ltd and Deputy General Manager of COOEC (Qingdao) Co. Ltd.
