China's Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) contracted an additional order for two MR products/chemical tankers from Stena Bulk.
Stena and Concordia Maritime have ordered eight firm 50,000-dwt tankers in July 2012, with additional options. The shipowner revealed that it exercised options for two additional vessels.
Now the Swedish owner has a total of 10 products/chemical tanker series worth overall around $400m on the book. Also, it is said that Stena has options for a further two ships in the series.
The ships have new hull lines and specially designed propellers, which could give the companies an advantage of between $3,000 and $5,000 per day through fuel economy.
Meanwhile, the MR tanker series will be delivered one by one from the first half of this year and be operated by Stena Weco.
