Hyundai Heavy Industries is possibly to win a speculative newbuilding order for up to four 9,000-teu containerships from Aeolos Management.
Sources said the Embiricos-controlled company is finalizing a deal for firm two and optional two newbuildings with the Korean shipbuilding giant.
Delivery is scheduled by the end of 2014. Brokers predict the price will be around $80m apiece.
Market players say Aeolos may place a speculative order, as it did last year.
The owner is said to have booked an order for 2+2 6,700-teu containerships at Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction's Subic yard, for delivery in 2014 at $57m each. Sources said the owner did not take the options and reduced the firm two newbuildings to only one ship.
