Korean giant shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries has reportedly signed a letter of intent with Oceanbulk Carriers, the joint venture company between US private-equity firm Oaktree Capital and Greece's Oceanbulk group, for the construction of up to six 9,000TEU containerships.
Market sources say the deal is based on a two-plus-two-plus-two ships with deliveries scheduled in the first half of 2015.
Newbuilding price is estimated to be around $85m per ship, brokers say.
Meanwhile, last month the partners also contracted two capesize bulkers and two kamsarmax bulkers at Japan Marine United.
