Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard in Russia booked an order to build 10 5,300-gt barges from Gazprombank Leasing.
After deliveries in 2013 and 2014, newbuildings will be operated by Transko.
The Russian shipyard unrevealed the newbuilding prices.
Krasnoye's parent company MNP Group's boss Vadim Malov said that demand for river-sea freight was rising in Russia, where only few barges are now in service.
