D'Amico International Shipping of Italy is looking to replace older tonnage with newbuilding product carriers, as it predicts the PC market will soon improve.
An official from the Italian shipowner said the company plans to sign newbuilding orders within this quarter.
Also, he added that after completing new orders, d'Amico will sell older ships in the secondhand market.
On the back of new environmental regulations and cost efficiency of eco-design newbuildings, d'Amico is to order fuel-efficient eco-friendly vessels.
Meanwhile, the shipowner awarded orders for six eco-design newbuildings last year, including two handysize product/chemical tankers ordered at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Korea.
