China's Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) seems to have signed additional order for eight 3,900-teu boxships with Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL).
On February 27, MacGregor announced that it has secured a further order from DSIC for its cranes to be installed in eight 3,900-teu containerships, with deliveries set in 2014-2015. Therefore, it seems that DSIC inked a further order for eight newbuildings from PIL.
DSIC revealed in January that it signed a newbuilding contract with PIL in December of 2012 to supply 4+4 3,900-teu boxships, valued in around $41m apiece, while MacGregor said on January 9 that it won an order from DSIC for 16 variable frequency drive electric cranes to be equipped in four containerships for PIL.
In light of these circumstances, PIL has presumably exercised options for four more newbuildings at DSIC and added up its orderbook with four more.
