China's Jinhai Heavy Industry is predicted to see more newbuildings for John Fredriksen group to be chopped off.
Fredriksen-led Golden Ocean and Frontline 2012 have exercised their rights to cancel the newbuilding contracts for six vessels due to heavy delays so far, and another running-late eight ships could also be cancelled off.
Golden Ocean has cancelled four 80,000-dwt bulkers last year and exercised its right to cancel another 175,000-dwt newbuilding, now leaving it with four ice-class panamaxes. Golden Ocean has paid in excess of $175m on its nine ships, however, guaranteed from Chinese banks, the shipowner is confident to get money back.
Frontline 2012 had five 300,000-dwt VLCCs on order and the first vessel of them were called off. Five newbuildings cost in excess of $200m for Frontline 2012.
