Looking for Design Manager Or Senior Naval Architect in Singapore Office:
Position:
Design Manager Or Senior Naval Architect Depending on Experience
Overview:
The candidate shall have at least 10 years experience involving design and engineering of Offshore and Marine structures which include floating units.
The candidate shall have the ability and requisite experience to lead a team for complex design projects involving high‐ended structural and motion‐simulation software. In this regard the candidate shall have experience with the following aspects of project management:
• Project definition
• Project budgets and costs
• Project monitoring and schedule conformance
• Requisite skills to write and manage high quality reports
Such experience shall be with reasonably reputable marine OR offshore companies and shall include concept structural design, structural assessments including a thorough knowledge of Finite Element Analysis, fatigue calculations, Hydrodynamics, and Motion
analysis including floating body interaction.
Qualifications:
Post Graduate degree in Ocean Engineering or equivalent Under Graduate degree in Naval Architecture OR Civil Engineering with elective in Structural Engineering
Knowledge:
The candidate must possess an in‐depth understanding of:
• Floating bodies including:
o Hydrostatics
o Intact and Damage Stability Calculations
o Shear Force and Bending Moments
o Hull design
o Power and Speed computations
o Floating body motion studies
• Structural evaluation and design including:
o Global and Local FEA analysis for strength and buckling
o Coarse and fine mesh generation using appropriate software
o Fatigue calculations
• Hydrodynamic processes for wave load and Response Amplitude generation
• Motion analysis for floating bodies
• Thorough knowledge of Regulations and compliance environment pertaining to commercial ships, Offshore‐ fixed and floating units.
Software Knowledge
The Candidate shall have hands‐on experience with appropriate software for each application:
1. Classification Society approved Structural Assessment Packages such as:
a. DNV Sesam
b. DNV Nauticus Hull
c. BV VeriSTAR Hull & New Strudl Offshore
d. ABS Safehull
OR
e. Please specify other equivalent experience with industrial packages.
2. Classification Society approved Hydrodynamic and Motion Analysis packages such as:
a. DNV Package including Hydro‐D / Mimosa / Wadam and Simo.
b. BV Package including HydroSTAR / Diodore, Arianne‐3 Dynamic.
OR
c. Please specify other equivalent experience with industrial packages.
3. Working knowledge of any reputed Marine Design software for:
a. Hull Surface Modeling
b. Hydrostatics
c. Powering / Speed
d. Vessel Sea‐keeping
Candidate shall specify each.
4. Hand‐on knowledge of following basic software:
a. AutoCAD
b. MS Project or other scheduling software
c. MS Office
Responsibilities
The Candidate shall report to the Singapore Office General Manager
• Responsible for quality and timely completion of project deliverables
• Shall liaise with clients
• Shall Liaise with Classification Societies and other Approval agencies
• Shall be responsible for work on design development processes and Research & Development initiatives
• Shall work within the company’s established quality control procedures
• Shall be responsible for on time project completion and project budget controls.
• Shall be responsible to maintain project based filing systems
• Shall be responsible towards preparing, implementing and executing training programs for inductees.
