The Genesis class is a class of Royal Caribbean cruise ships, the first of which was ordered in February 2006. The first ship is scheduled to be delivered in Fall of 2009 and has not yet been named.
The Genesis class will surpass the earlier Freedom Class as the world's largest passenger ships. They will be 23 meters (69 feet) longer, 8.5 meters (29 feet) wider, have a slightly deeper draft than the Freedom Class ships, and a gross tonnage that is expected to be 43% greater. The ship is projected to have new features along with "Central Park", but no others have been released yet.
Like the Freedom class, the Genesis class ships will be built by Aker Yards in Turku, Finland. They will be 1,180 feet (360 meters) long, with a gross tonnage of 220,000, and will be able to carry 5,400 passengers. The first of the Genesis class, priced at US$1.2 billion ( |
