STX两艘散货船遭撤单船东赔违约金

纽约干散货船船东 Safe Bulkers已经确认取消了2艘在STX订造的Kamsarmax干散货船。    这两艘81000dwt的船,每艘价值为4810万美元,原计划在2010年3月和5月交付。
    这家美国上市公司的老板说,这次两艘船的撤单,他们会支付每艘720万美元的违约金。
    Safe Bulkers目前还有5艘船的订单,包括2艘在江苏熔盛重工建造的好望角型散货船。它还有2艘92000dwt的散货船在韩国Sungdong船厂建造,另外1艘95000dwt的散货船在某家日本船厂建造。

STX says no cancellations by Safe

A foreign media reported Safe Bulkers has cancelled two Kamsarmax bulker newbuildings at South Korea’s STX Shipbuilding. But an STX official told Asiasis Friday that the report is groundless and the owner is just requesting delivery delays of the vessels. The two 81,000-dwt ships, which were ordered at a cost of $48.1m each, are due to be delivered in March and May 2010. The US-listed owner has already paid advance deposit of $7.2m per ship. Safe Bulkers has additional five ships on order including two capesize bulkers at China’s Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries. It also has two 92,000-dwt bulkers at South Korea’s Sungdong Shipbuilding and a 95,000-dwt bulker at an undisclosed Japanese shipbuilder. Safe Bulkers has also revealed that it has agreed to terminate the long-term charters on another three of its vessels. Japanese owner Daiichi has terminated its charter of the 82,300-dwt bulker Pedhoulas Trader (built 2007) seven months early. It has agreed to pay compensation of between $2.7m and $3.4m depending on the actual redelivery date which will be some time between 15 June and 15 July 2009. The charter was not contractually due to expire until November 2009 and would have generated over $5m in future time charter hire, net of commissions. Daiichi has also agreed to terminate the charter of the 76,000-dwt bulker Maria (built 2003) which was due to run until January 2011. It will pay compensation of between $15m-$16m depending on the redelivery dates. The full charter would have earned Safe Bulkers about $25m. Finally, Bunge has sort to terminate its charter of the 76,000-dwt bulker Katerina (built 2004) and will pay Safe Bulkers between $20.6m and $22.3m in compensation. It originally had the ship on charter until November next year in a fixture that would have created revenues of $30.8m for Safe Bulkers. On Thursday Safe Bulkers confirmed that it had already cut short the charter of two of its bulkers – the 76,000-dwt Efrossini (built 2003) and the Maritsa (built 2005) – in exchange for compensation of $29.7m. The US-listed owner said in cancelling the two newbuildings it was set to forfeit the advance deposit paid of $7.2m per ship.
But as a result of the cancellation Safe Bulkers said its shipbuilding commitments would be reduced by $89.5m which would have been due to the yard on delivery.
Safe Bulkers still has five ships on order including two capesize bulkers at China’s Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries.
It also has two 92,000-dwt bulkers at South Korea’s Sungdong Shipbuilding and a 95,000-dwt bulker at an undisclosed Japanese shipbuilder.
Safe Bulkers has also revealed that it has agreed to terminate the long-term charters on another three of its vessels.

随便算一算一个1W人左右的场子,就算平均月薪3000元的话,每天的工资钱就得100W。720W真的不多。
