固定水雾消防系统或固定水喷淋系统，可以给机器处所，泵舱间，滚装甲板等提供灭火。

而就地水雾消防系统，给主机，发电机组，锅炉， incinerator，purifier room, inertgas plant 等位置提供火灾起始阶段的灭火措施。

而且，其要求来自SOLAS的大章节中不同的小节。
