Drop test

1)The fully equipped lifeboat, with its engine, should be loaded with weights equal to the mass of the maximum number of persons for which the lifeboat is to be approved.The weights should be distributedto represent the normal loading condition but need not be placed 300 mm above the seat-pan. The lifeboat should then be suspended above the water so that the distance from the lowest point of the lifeboat to the water is 3 m. The lifeboat should then be released so that it falls freely into the water.

2)The drop test should be conducted with the lifeboat that was used in the impact test.
