POSITION:
Technical Manager
DEPARTMENT:
Technical Dept.
WORKPLACE:
Shanghai, China.
REPORTEES:
(Sr) Engineer(s), (Sr) Technical Surveyor(s), Technical Assistant(s), Admn. Assistant,
Main Function:
1.
Coordinate technical issues with other departments within SMC (especially Procurement and site managers)
2.
Coordinate with external 3rd party owners, designers, class societies and yards.
3.
Provide necessary technical advice, support and etc. service to other departments.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1.
Work with Owners (or external owners) to deliver Tech. Specifications and Makers List for newbuilding projects.
2.
Review and approve all drawings from perspective, monitor the design status and progress;
3.
Coordinate prompt approval and return of the design drawings with Class, Makers and Designers effectively;
4.
Identify and evaluate potential yards and their proposed specifications;
5.
Assist Procurement Dept. to finalize TR, evaluate potential vendors and attend FAT if required.
6.
Prepare technical document promptly for the newbuildings for the trading purpose and common maintenance/operation purpose.
7.
PR and network with design houses, classification societies, yards and etc;
8.
Perform other tasks assigned by Technical Director.
Qualifications and Professional Requirements:

Fluent in English – oral and written
-
Marine technical education, and/or marine training experience;
-
Proven Professional experience within technical management positions
-
Familiar with design processes within design institutes as well as yards
-
Familiar with the marine practice and relationship in terms of design house, classification society, vendor, shipyard and shipowner;

Ability to keep abreast with new technology, new design concept, new international standards/regulations/rules,
-
Management skills, reporting skills
