Lightning conductors complying with IEC 600092-401 ARE TO BE FITTED TO EACH MAST OF ALL WOOD, COMPOSITE AND STEEL SHIPS HAVING WOODEN MASTS OR TOPMASTS.

They need not be fitted to steel ships having steel masts.
