OK, Mr. Meng. The original passage is as followings: "The patent slip lifts the ship in the transverse direction. Trolleys placed on rails roll into the water, until they are underneath the ship. If the trolleys are pulled back up again, they take the ship with them. The patent slip is used mostly for ships with a length of up to 140 metres."
To be frank, after typing the aforementioned paragraph, I've gradually known some meanings of the word "patent slip". But I just can not exactly explain that with a proper definition. |
