Good is also a noun, so you can do good in the sense of benefiting society, doing charitable works, etc, as opposed to doing harm. Used in that sense, "do good" is grammatically correct. However, "the boy done good", typically used by football managers to describe a player's performance, is doubly wrong, since not only should the speaker use the adverb "well", "done" is a past participle and can't be used in that way. The correct version is "the boy did well", or even, "Why don't you watch some rugby union, it's a much more interesting game, played by sportsmen and women who are not interested in tribal warfare and are happy to talk to supporters of the opposing team in a civilised manner, rather than threaten them with violence." Prejudices well and truly exposed now!
