The hatch cover will hog and bend because of te influence of thermal expension when temperature dfference happens between top and bottom plate.For the hatch cover of 57000dwt B.C,the hogging is more obvious than other vessels because their span is over 27m,It will cause some problem such as different cleat operation and insufficient compresion .because the thermal expension is the nature attrbute of metal ,the hogging can not be avoided by design . But we can control the deflection value in acceptable range by
appropriate manufacture and installation tolerance.
