In 1984 and 1999 respectively, Chinese leaders Deng Xiaoping and Jiang Zemin reviewed troops representing millions of service people.
Since the beginning of the new century, the Navy has improved its capabilities for integrated offshore operations, strategic deterrence and strategic counterattacks.
It has also gradually developed its ability to conduct cooperation in distant waters and counter non-traditional security threats.
Through six decades of development, a modern maritime force has taken shape, with both nuclear and conventional means of operations.
