Zhoushan Jinhaiwan Shipyard, China's largest emerging builder, has delivered the Zosco Jiaxing, the first 176,000-dwt Capesize bulker ever to be completed by the yard, at the end of September. Under the contract, the ship will be owned by Zhejiang COSCO. The yard has already laid keel for the massive order for 176/80-type bulkers placed by Grand China Logistics (GCL) last June, with a company-related source claiming that they have entered a system of serial construction. The first 176-type Capesize bound of GCL is slated for completion in July 2010. Zhoushan Jinhaiwan plans to complete a total of 12 newbuildings this year.
The yard laid the keel for its first Capesize in January last year. The vessel was launched in June this year, or about one year, eight months from keel-laying. It was delivered as scheduled. In April, it delivered the yard's first and second 110,00-dwt Aframax tankers.
