A fault current limiter (FCL) should not be used to protect a switchboard's main busbar and connected equipment from excessive short-circuit currents in the electrical installation of a new unit. Only in the event of a lack of adequate area/space and the absence of other suitable design alternatives should the use of destructive, alternatively non-destructive FCL be considered as short-circuit protection.
故障电流限制器是通过增加阻抗来限制短路电流从而使下游可以选用较小分段能力的断路器。通常设计,一般都会进行短路计算,选择合适的断路器。除非电站容量很大,导致很高的预期最大短路电流从而在选择断路器上没有合适匹配的或者价格非常高空间占用大(不经济),出于这样的考虑会使用FCL来降低短路电流。通常在基本设计阶段,选择发电机/变压器已经基本决定了本项目的最大短路电流且也可计算得出。结合个人相关经验,很少见到新造海工或者船舶项目有用到这FCL,但也不是说不能用。
为什么IEC61892-2,11.2.4.2中第一句话要求:A fault current limiter (FCL) should not be used to protect a switchboard's main busbar and connected equipment from excessive short-circuit currents in the electrical installation of a new unit.
