CMA CGM 9,500 TEU container ship aground, Suez Canal UPDATES Refloated
Oct 16 UPDATE: Singapore, October 16, 2020 – Zeaborn Ship Management, managers of fully cellular containership CMA CGM Missouri, report that last night the vessel was successfully refloated at the Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal, Egypt. The ship grounded on Oct 14, whilst under pilotage and in transit in the Canal. There were no injuries to the crew and no pollution occurred as a result of the incident. The Suez Canal remained open for traffic following the grounding and the consequent refloating operation.
The vessel is meanwhile being moved to a safe anchorage at Great Bitter Lake for a survey and underwater inspection. Managers can confirm that the vessel’s hull integrity is intact.

Container ship CMA CGM MISSOURI ran aground in Suez Canal while transiting in southern direction, at around 0930 UTC Oct 14. As of 1745 UTC, probably refloated or moved, several Suez Canal tugs attending. Traffic probably suspended, but it’s not confirmed. No information on what caused grounding.
