According to the country’s Minister of Transport, Yisrael Katz, the entry of international operators into the Israeli port market represents a dramatic turning point in the country. He stressed that the Chinese team that won the tender will most certainly boost competition in Haifa.
It is announced that SIPG wins the bid for concession of Bayport terminal, port of Haifa, Israel operations for 25 years from 2021.
Bayport terminal is expected to put into full operation in 2021. SIPG will be responsible for construction of the facilities at the back terminal, deployment and installation of the equipment and daily running and operation of the terminal. With a total 1,500 meters of quay length, a 78ha surface and a 17.3 meters draft, Bayport new terminal will handle the designed annual container throughput of 1.86 million TEU.
